Tenori-On

Finally someone's created a Flash Tenori-On. If you've not seen this instument from Yamaha in action before I've posted Little Boots using one before which is well worth a watch if you want to see it used properly. Great fun! Below is my quick but lame attempt but if you want a go visit Nudge.

John Hughes Tribute

The legendary Director / Producer / Screenwrite John Hughes has sadly died. His films are still among my favourites and I dread to think how many times I watched Weird Science or Ferris Bueller. This video features a mash-up of the 'brat pack films' and French band Phoenix and is a fitting tribute to the great man. I have to watch the Breackfast Club now and I'm seeing Phoenix on the 28th October at Brixton Academy.

Augmented Reality Business Card

Ever since I first saw Seb Lee-Delisle create a worm hole in your webcam I've been fasinated by augmented reality. I love the idea of blending analogue printed media and digital on-screen graphics together. Here it's the turn of Jonas Jager's Augmented Businesscard. It's a bit gimmicky sure, but it's a great use mediums.

Robot Cake

I turned 30 yesterday and my lovely girlfriend spoilt me with various robot related treats (and a trip to China! thanks Stace x). Today I did a quick google search for "30th cake" and look who popped up. Guess I'm not the only 30-year-old robot geek with an understanding and talented girlfriend.

Tweenbots

Tweenbots is a social experiment based in New York. This tiny little robot slowly motors forward and relies on human interaction to get it to it's goal... and somehow or other this fragile little guy always seems to make it.

Sing it back

There's a few Karaoke spots already in Brighton, none of which are particularly any good. So I'm excited by the prospect of a new lucky voice private karaoke bar opening next to the new Jamie Oliver Italian Restaurant in Black Lion Street. A mere stones throw from my office (and the pebbly beach for that matter). It'll apparently span 3 floors and will be open in 8 weeks time. I'll be warming up the ol' vocal chords with Lips in the meantime and I've posted the new Metronomy video to get everyone excited.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Beats? Side B

And here is the much anticipated (by me mostly) SIDE B to my Do Androids Dream of Electric Beats mixtape. More of the same with a few classics and somewhat weak links to robots (a couple of the tracks are only robotic sounding in title), but it's a fitting finale to my musical adventure through time, space and synthetic beings. Enjoy:

  2. Strict Machine - Goldfrapp
  3. Work On You - MSTRKRFT
  4. Robot - The Futureheads
  5. You're a Woman, I'm a Machine - Death From Above 1979

Empire Of The Sun

I love this video from Empire of the Sun - no not the movie with Christian Bale - but a floaty electro acoustic band who look like they've jumped straight out of a Flight of the Conchords episode via Fischerspooner's wardrobe. Love it.

Dilbert

Not sure what this says about me, but Joe our Flash programmer gave me this comic strip from dilbert.com a while back and I've just stumbled across it again. Makes me chuckle.

Pixxxel P0rn

A few years ago I remember seeing some clever oil paintings that looked like mosaics but were in fact pixelated p0rn when you stepped back. In a similar vain Jean Yves Lemoigne has created a 3D take on pixel art in this photoshoot. Jean Has a very cool portfolio, make sure you check it out.

Street Fighter II Youtube Edition

This is quite impressive, there must be hundreds of predetermined movies on Youtube for this game. Just using video, PatrickBoivin has come up with a method of playing Street Fighter II. You click a button on the left to do a move and it jumps to another movie and then another until someone wins. Not quite as fun as I remember it, but at least I didn't blow all my pocket money. Now that's wet my appetite I hope Street Fighter 4 delivers, it looks stunning.

Gig Posters Book

Happy new year! Sorry it's been a while. Having been a fan of gigposters.com for a few years I was chuffed to hear they've published a book with limited edition prints. Now I just need to find out if they can ship it to the UK.
