Empire Of The Sun

I love this video from Empire of the Sun - no not the movie with Christian Bale - but a floaty electro acoustic band who look like they've jumped straight out of a Flight of the Conchords episode via Fischerspooner's wardrobe. Love it.

Dilbert

Not sure what this says about me, but Joe our Flash programmer gave me this comic strip from dilbert.com a while back and I've just stumbled across it again. Makes me chuckle.

Pixxxel P0rn

A few years ago I remember seeing some clever oil paintings that looked like mosaics but were in fact pixelated p0rn when you stepped back. In a similar vain Jean Yves Lemoigne has created a 3D take on pixel art in this photoshoot. Jean Has a very cool portfolio, make sure you check it out.

Street Fighter II Youtube Edition

This is quite impressive, there must be hundreds of predetermined movies on Youtube for this game. Just using video, PatrickBoivin has come up with a method of playing Street Fighter II. You click a button on the left to do a move and it jumps to another movie and then another until someone wins. Not quite as fun as I remember it, but at least I didn't blow all my pocket money. Now that's wet my appetite I hope Street Fighter 4 delivers, it looks stunning.

Gig Posters Book

Happy new year! Sorry it's been a while. Having been a fan of gigposters.com for a few years I was chuffed to hear they've published a book with limited edition prints. Now I just need to find out if they can ship it to the UK.

Monster Trucks and Robot Friends

Great use of tilt shift and time lapse photography used in this video by Keith Loutit. It makes the trucks look like toys and it all to look like stop motion animation. The tune 'Robot high school (In digital form remix)' - by My Robot Friend is great too... electro AND ROBOTS!

Repetition Kills You

Yes it's The Black Ghost's and 'The Repetition Kills You' again. This time it's the RAC remix and it's a welcome twist. You hear more from Damon Albarn and there's a more pronounced bass line. Props to Paul Tao for the link to this remix: http://senduit.com/c16096

Also The Black Ghosts video for 'Anyway You Chose To Give It' is in a competition on MTVU's The Freshman (no I haven't heard of it either) and you can vote for it here http://freshmen.mtvu.com and you can vote as many times as you like. They were 3rd last time I checked.

When Hell fills up the DeadDeadDead will rise

Garage Studios is a new Photography Studio right here in Brighton and I've been keeping up to date with their Flickr right here. So I was really excited when their darker more creative sibling DeadDeadDead launched their website with this ace photo yesterday... right in time for Halloween too. Check out the video of the set build here it's amazing how much effort went into it.

I designed the logo for Garage Studios (below) as a favour. I love it in Black and White but must admit to not being much of a fan of it in pink, but hey I'm sure they'll do well and pink is soooo Brighton baby.

Minilogue - Animals

Sorry I've been slack - I've been in Indonesia and Malaysia the last few weeks and to start the ball rolling again I've stolen this post form Popwhore:

This is so dope…This is a Video by the Swedish group Minilogue.

The art direction is very good and the characters are amazing, by the designers Kristofer Ström and Erik Bucholtz.

Designer Drugs and Little Boots

Great 80s twist on Little Boots' "Meddle" has just surfaced in my inbox. The 80s coke jam remix is a bit dancier, bit more electro and bit more up tempo.

The original "...was co-written by Greg Kurstin (producer of Lily Allen/Kylie Minogue/etc and one half of Bird And The Bee) and Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, with production by Joe as well. It’s the “Designer Drugs ‘80s Coke Jam Remix,” which really isn’t that far off from the vibe of this remix."

Meddle will appear on the Arecibo EP along with Stuck On Repeat (and the great Fake Blood remix) and is out mid November on digital and 12" on I AM SOUNDS records.
