Finally someone's created a Flash Tenori-On. If you've not seen this instument from Yamaha in action before I've posted Little Boots using one before which is well worth a watch if you want to see it used properly. Great fun! Below is my quick but lame attempt but if you want a go visit Nudge.

Designer Drugs and Little Boots

Great 80s twist on Little Boots' "Meddle" has just surfaced in my inbox. The 80s coke jam remix is a bit dancier, bit more electro and bit more up tempo.

The original "...was co-written by Greg Kurstin (producer of Lily Allen/Kylie Minogue/etc and one half of Bird And The Bee) and Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, with production by Joe as well. It’s the “Designer Drugs ‘80s Coke Jam Remix,” which really isn’t that far off from the vibe of this remix."

Meddle will appear on the Arecibo EP along with Stuck On Repeat (and the great Fake Blood remix) and is out mid November on digital and 12" on I AM SOUNDS records.

Somewhere in the Universe there must be somewhere better than New Hero?

The Somewhere in the Universe club night in Brighton has always attracted some superstar DJs at the Ocean Rooms, so I hope they still reel 'em in at their new spot at New Hero every Friday. If you're from Brighton and have never heard of New Hero it's because it's just changed names/owners from what used to be The Church and Club New York before that. It was a small dingy venue so I hope they've spruced it up a bit. I notice that Little Boots, whom I blogged a few weeks back, is playing there on the 19th September too.

The Saturday spot also looks promising with DANCE DANCE DEATH; a night which features some great DJs on rotation. From Skint's own Midfield General through to one of my faves Punks Jump Up who, amongst other things, created one of my favourite T-Shirts (see above).

Tenori-On + Little Boots = Stuck On Repeat

It was the Fake Blood remix of Stuck On Repeat which first got me into Little Boots (also the lead singer of Dead Disco). But it's the interesting post on her youTube channel which has me awe struck. The flashy LED instrument she uses looks like it came from the set of TRON. The TENORI-ON (it even sounds like TRON) is billed as the "The digital music instrument for the 21st century." And judging by Little Boots' performance it doesn't disappoint.

"Media artist Toshio Iwai and Yamaha have collaborated to design a new digital musical instrument for the 21st century, TENORI-ON. A 16x16 matrix of LED switches allows everyone to play music intuitively, creating a "visible music" interface."

I want one! Even if I'll never work out how to turn the fucker on. Little Boot's EP Meddle is out on the 11th August and is produced by Joe Hot Chip.
